And we're off! The Tretorn Shop had it's official opening last night. We turned a flea market on the corner of Wooster and Spring into our own backyard, invited some friends and threw a big old Swedish BBQ.

Light My Fire provided meal kits, Harpoon Brewery kept the beer flowing and our favorite Swedish Chef Marcus Samuelsson brough his crew from Aquavit to keep the food both delicious and authentic.

VIP's and press got a chance to browse the new store, speak to our Creative Director and enjoy a little mid-week mixing and mingling.

Good food, playing outside, getting a taste of the weekend-all our favorite Tretorn things!

Emil Hirsh wore the Sommarkvall sweater on Letterman last night. Not only that, he made the big show highlight reel with a slighty scandalous vacation story. Perhaps we at Tretorn are more rock and roll than we thought.

Wellie Wagon Mania

The Tretorn Wellie Wagon made it's New York City debut in New York City this weekend, showing off the Spring/Summer collection in Christopher Square.

Unloading a 16 foot wagon in SoHo is no small feat but our friends at Zoom Media were up to the challenge.

A shot of color on a perfect spring afternoon.
The wagon is equipped with a bench for try-ons, mats to keep the shoes clean and plenty of merchandising space. We stationed our street teams in several locations around the park to pass out postcards and direct people to the wagon.

Our friends at HUS were very excited to be part of the event and were great partners. The Wagon was a definite attention getter (even the NYC bums love us!). We still have two lovely weekends of Wellie fun so tell your city-dwelling friends to come check us out!

Tretorn's Night Out

Tonight Tretorn was invited to be part of Details Magazine's "New York Nights" party at Bloomingdale's in Manhattan

Acclaimed Chef and big Tretorn fan Marcus Samuelsson came by to hang out

And he brought along a team from his Swedish restaurant Aquavit to whip up some yummy traditional appetizers.

The things these guys can do to salmon is kind of unreal. Next time you are in New York stop by for some gravalux.

We also had a rousing Wellie Wanging competition. "Wellie Whatting?" you ask? It's a much-harder-than-it-looks game wherein you attempt to lob a Thule Mid into a narrow opening in a Tretorn container from about 10 feet back as many times as you can in 30 seconds.

Winners went home with a signed copy of Marcus Samuelsson's Aquavit cookbook. After getting beat in several previous rounds, this guy brought his unsuspecting girlfriend back and finally managed to win himself a book. The game definitely makes a spectacle of itself, I'm pretty sure it will be on the bill for the London Olympics.

FYI-Marcus is a spectacular chef and a very charming fella but quit a terrible Wellie Wanger.

Even the girl in heels beat him.
